SeedTree Studio —
where teachers build.
PD modules with the simulator embedded. Drop the same scaffold into Monday's class — no re-platforming, no extra prep. Module 0.1 is free, AITSL-aligned, and earns you a Bridge Builder Foundation certificate.
1 hour · self-paced · Bridge Builder Foundation certificate on completion
Why Studio exists
Most Year 7 students don’t fall off algebra because algebra is hard.
They fall off because they were never taught to read multiplication in Years 3 to 6.
Reading A — compute first
“Twenty-four. Plus eighteen. Forty-two.”
Two separate sums. No structure carried forward.
Reading B — see the unit
“Four sixes plus three sixes — seven sixes.”
The unit is preserved. The structure transfers.
A Y4 student trained on Reading A meets in Year 7 and has to invent a strategy on the spot. A Y4 student trained on Reading B has already done the cognitive work — is the same operation, different surface.
That single re-reading is the Bridge. Studio teaches it to you, the teacher, first — with the exact simulator your students will use.
What Studio is
PD that opens to your editor.
Other providers ship a workshop and a workbook. Studio ships three platform surfaces a workshop can’t reach.
Student SimulatorCanvas
You sit on the student side first. You run the scaffold your students will run. Working-memory minimisation, structural reads, diagnostic propagation — all experienced from their seat.
Teaching-version simulator
The same scaffold, switched into teacher mode for classroom projection. Edit values live, control the step sequence, mirror to a board. The tool you trained on IS the tool Monday morning.
Editor and peer review
Fork any lesson. Author your own. Customise prompts, examples, scaffolding for the class in front of you. Your library follows you between schools. Other Bridge Builders review what you publish.
Same scaffolds. Same lessons. Same platform. Your students will use what you trained on.
The Bridge Builder Series
Seven one-hour modules. One Bridge.
Module 0.1 free. Modules 0.2-0.7 paid individually or as a series. Each module pairs a primary reading with the secondary algebra it unlocks.
As-Groups Foundation
FreePrimary: Read 4 × 6 + 3 × 6 as four sixes plus three sixes — seven sixes, not just 42.
Bridge to algebra: 4x + 3x = 7x. Same structural reading.
Grouping & Distributivity
PaidPrimary: Grouping IS distributivity. Same blocks, two readings.
Bridge to algebra: a(b + c) = ab + ac. Factor the unit, expose the sum.
Place Value Flexibility
PaidPrimary: 123 is one hundred and two tens and three ones — or twelve tens and three ones.
Bridge to algebra: 100a + 10b + c. Digit decomposition.
Distributive in Primary
PaidPrimary: 4 × (10 + 3) = 4 × 10 + 4 × 3 — by the definition of multiplication.
Bridge to algebra: x(y + z) — expansion is not a new rule.
Compensation
PaidPrimary: 98 × 7 = 100 × 7 − 2 × 7 — and back again.
Bridge to algebra: Algebraic manipulation. Forward and reverse.
Doubling and Halving
PaidPrimary: 14 × 25 = 7 × 50. The product is preserved.
Bridge to algebra: Equivalent fractions. Scaling. Ratio.
Array to Area to Pronumeral
PaidPrimary: Array → rectangle area → x × y area. The picture keeps working.
Bridge to algebra: xy is an area. Always was.
